How pickup works
Pickup of your RV or motorhome is handled with utmost care and professionalism. We utilize specialized RV-transport flatbeds or designated drive-away services, ensuring your vehicle is moved safely. If your RV is located at a storage facility, we coordinate directly with them for a seamless pickup. It’s important to note that vehicle length and height play a significant role in transport logistics—most states enforce a 13'6" max clearance routing. Therefore, we’ll carefully plan the route to accommodate your RV's dimensions and ensure compliance with local regulations.
What drives donation value
The donation value of your RV or motorhome largely depends on the condition of house systems, such as the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning. These factors significantly drive up the vehicle's worth, often more than the state of the drivetrain. For instance, water damage can severely devalue your vehicle, while recent maintenance records can boost its appeal. Seasonality also impacts the donation market—spring auctions often yield the highest values. If you're donating a classic vehicle, we recommend obtaining an appraisal from a qualified appraiser to ensure you're maximizing your tax benefits per IRS guidelines.
Documentation you need
- Title of the RV or motorhome
- Original Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) for off-road vehicles
- Recent service records detailing maintenance history
- Appraisal documentation for classic RVs
- Bill of sale if applicable
Chicago specifics
In Chicago and throughout Illinois, proper documentation is essential for the donation process. The DMV requires the title and, in some cases, a bill of sale to facilitate the necessary title transfer. Knowing the specific rules around state-titled vehicles and ensuring all paperwork is in order will streamline your donation experience. Donors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with local regulations, ensuring a compliant and worry-free donation.
